The Maintenance Project
Friday, 10 April, 2009
Holy Week saw a small team made up of John White, Sarah Seaman and Aaron Hall ascended the tower with tools in arms to carry out the project which saw the headstocks being repainted. The day started at 9am when we started by brushing down the frame and sweeping the floor to clear 10 years of dust and dirt before we could start, as you can imagine a rather dusty job! The team then washed and prepared the headstocks for their coat of new paint to keep them rust free. After a hard days work on Monday the headstocks look like new with a nice new coat of red paint.
On Friday 10th and Monday 13th April, Joe Smith then started the big job on treating the wooden bell frame and all other wood in the tower to protect it from woodworm and fungus.
This work shall protect the bells and frames for hopefully some years to come from any damage due to rust and insects and was a job well done by all! Sadly there are no photos as after about an hour I dropped my camera and broke it!
